Sunshine On My Shoulder Makes Me :)

Every so often a miracle occurs here in the Pacific NW.
The gray, drippy and very dreary winter skies give way to blue ones
(or at least partially blue ones)
 and...
Aimee, sick or not,
escapes to one of the many roads which -- sooner or later -- leads her to a wetland area.

You see one of the TWO things Aimee likes LOVES about winter are the numerous wetlands
and their amazing inhabitants
(the other, as you may already know, is snow, snow and more snow)!

Today Farmer Boy and I set off to explore a wetland I had just learned about
and another that we had driven by, but not stopped at before.

A tiny chipmunk we saw.
Perhaps his name is Alvin?

"My" beloved geese.

A mourning dove?

A hawk who likes heights better than yours truly.

A lovely snow white egret.

Guess who?

One of the major challenges was actually being able to get there...
we got turned back twice when trying to visit one of the areas I wanted to explore.

Of course, sometimes one HAS to get out even if the skies aren't blue
and we've done a little of that too. Those photos another time.

Blessings,
Aimee

Love all these pictures of the birds, etc. So beautiful. Flooding can be so scary all that's going on now. My family is back home in PA and MD and just got hammered with all that snowfall. They are worried now about when it melts and where it will all go. :-( Crazy weather everywhere it seems!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Blessings,
Jill

Hello Aimee! Sorry to read that you've been sick but I'm glad you were able to get out and see so many wonderful critters! I'm typing this in the Seattle area just back from San Francisco (where we had rain) and am happy to say the sun is streaming in the window. That has a way of brightening my attitude. Hope you have a wonderful week.

@Jill~
Thanks! Hope your family back east weathered the snowstorm well and that there is no dangerous flooding. We've had a bit of dry weather here, but are expecting yet another big amount of rain later this week. Will be glad when spring comes:)
Blessings,
Aimee

@Ellen~
Me too! Glad you made it back home safely:) Ah-the sun does work its magic on all of us!
Blessings,
Aimee

A beautiful Winter's Day in Oregon is the most beautiful there is! Rarity makes it more valuable~ )). It has been so rainy here in Florida this season -- all I can think of is that I might as well be home! (El Nino somehow has an affect on us here -- something I don't understand even though Bill has explained it so many times that his eyes roll when I ask again.) Anyway -- we are in the same boat as you are this winter -- grabbing those sunny days when we can.

@Sallie~
So very, very true! Sigh. I am so sorry you have the PNW weather blues down in normally sunny Florida. Hoping you get a long stretch of beautiful blue days soon:)

Aimee

When Teresa and I were swimming yesterday...chatting during a lap :) we were talking about places we wanted to see. After our chat I was thinking that there is a wetlands place somewhere around I-5 and the OR-WA border that I have heard about but never visited and want to one day. Thanks for sharing some of what you saw, Aimee! Amazing habitat and creatures! xx
