Of Surf, Sand + Seagulls

Recently -- in between a horrible bout of gastroenteritis,
some other kind of awful ailment,
severe sciatica/back pain
and numerous challenges,
we took time to enjoy the high surf at a familiar beach...

The "regulars" were all there and we even had the bonus of sunshine--for awhile that is!
The beach wasn't cold, the tide was coming in and we got front row parking--
a benefit of the less crowded off-season:)

And the surf?
Well, the surf was glorious, captivating and beautiful!

The skies above were pretty awesome too.

The "regulars" were very entertaining...

Some of them, we discovered, were very skilled at fishing.
LOL

Others kept busy elsewhere.

Papa and the Small One seemed to really enjoy the high surf--
she also enjoyed watching the gulls, playing in the river and building a sand castle
(she also got her photograph taken by a REAL photographer--I can hardly blame him as it was pretty fun watching her and the wild waves)

It was a wonderful time of peace and wonder.
Even now, as I sort through the photos, I am reminded of the beauty we found there.

There's nothing like time in God's creation to feed one's soul and
I definitely needed some "food" this day.

I came, I ate and I left satisfied.

Blessings,
Aimee

The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear Him,
and delivereth them. O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.
O fear the LORD, ye His saints: for there is no want to them that fear Him.
Psalms 34:7-9 KJV

I could watch the pounding waves all day. Glad you were able to get away for an ocean visit.

I love that ocean! You really did need that day... And I hope you continue to mend, to keep the spirit of that day alive and help you heal. Your granddaughter is captivating in her red sweater , no wonder she caught the photographers eye as she celebrated er joyful day with you two.

Aimee, such a gorgeous word picture you painted to go along with the absolutely stunning beach photos. I can't believe the details you captures, the fish, the water droplets. Beautiful. You know how I love the Oregon coast. Even though we were there just a few weeks ago, I miss it already. Thank you for sharing these moments with us. I'm sorry to hear that illness has invaded your home. I hope all is better now. Many blessings always my friend,
Betsy

the last shot looking at the level of the waves is one of my favorites. It just seems a bit unusual but so beautiful. I've never been to the ocean, and never to a beach as beautiful as this. Lovely shots!

You are so right about God's world of nature feeding the soul. I find it restorative and calming to mind and soul, and good for the body, too. Beautiful photos. Love the local residents and their antics.

What a beautiful place, and a beautiful verse. Sorry to hear about the many health problems, but I'm glad you were able to enjoy this time of refreshment at the beach. I hope you are feeling better and will enjoy good health this late fall and winter. Love the photo with the gull and the helicopter.

@Sallie~
It is most easy to love, isn't it? I am doing much better--no viruses and I am able to do some household tasks again:) Thanks for all your good wishes and for your kind remarks about our Small One.
Blessings,
Aimee

@Betsy~
Thank you--so happy you enjoyed the photos! We were VERY blessed that day to see so much--made me happy that we didn't go further south as I had originally planned to do.
I understand how one can be so in love with the beach--it is ever changing, powerful yet peaceful. Hope you can make it back again soon:) Feeling better...thank God!
Blessings,
Aimee

@Abigail~
Thank you! That one was a fav of mine too. I only wish I could have captured the subtle lighting a bit better. Wish you could have seen it in person--it was incredible! I surely hope you get to visit the ocean someday Abigail--there's just nothing like it:)
Blessings,
Aimee

@Jill~
Thank you! Glad to report I am feeling better today-no more illness and my back, although not completely back to normal, is MUCH better!
Blessings,
Aimee

@Lorrie~
Thank you! I feel God's created world is meant to do that...definitely one of His greatest blessings to us (and He does give us so many blessings, doesn't He?) LOL--I always enjoy the gulls. This time I was lucky to be right below the sea wall when some people above were throwing food to them. It was a pretty amazing experience being so close to them:)
Blessings,
Aimee

@Bethany~
Thank you! That verse "spoke" to me. Things are much better--healthwise--now (thank God!) The gull/helicoptor shot was a very lucky one--I was excited to get that both in the same pic:)
Blessings,
Aimee

I am praying that you and yours are soon better from your ailments and difficulties.

Thank you so much for the wonderful photos, Aimee. It's as if we were there with you. By the way: Do you know why gulls often stand on one leg? (Like in your second photo).

Because if they didn't they would fall over.

God bless.

@Ellen~
Thank you! Me too--when the forecast calls for high surf and stormy conditions, I am sorely tempted to be on the sand...especially when the crowds are snug in their homes:) Thank you--feeling better now. Happy to share part of the Psalms with you and others!
Blessings,
Aimee
