Sometimes Dreams Really Do Come True

It was a day like any other day...
or was it?
I had been fighting an infection all week and was on my second to last day of antibiotics.
Blech!

I was scheduled to watch my dad for awhile that weekend,
and our house looked like a cyclone had hit it
(OK, a very SLIGHT exaggeration--but it was really, really bad).

And that's when strange things began to happen...
our granddaughters' mom texted me to say I REALLY should keep the Small One
earlier than I had agreed to.

Then, a bit later, my son-in-law's phone number came up on my cell phone--
 but no one was there.
Hum, strange day...

A minute later the mystery was solved...
the call connected and I learned
this would not be a normal holiday weekend at all--
in fact
one of my dreams was going to come true...
my daughter was on her way!
Happy tears!
:)

Of course we knew that would mean a trip to the beach
(because we both LOVE time by the waves)
which is how I ended up here,
looking at one of the most incredible sights ever--
a very ALIVE baby seal,
born just THAT morning,
on the beach that nothing unusual ever happens at.
And, yes, this was shot using a zoom lens--
because the law is clear on the protection of these beautiful creatures
(and besides who would want to cause them harm or undue stress? Not I!

Cousins would give piggyback rides to a certain smaller cousin
and
teach  her how to play soccer too
(my grandkids are SO athletic).
And we all,
except for a certain grandpa that took up residence on the quilt to rest,
got to see sandcrabs, shrimp, cool unbroken shells and
 an agate...
all this on the beach that NOTHING is ever out of the ordinary.
Tidepools?? Here?
All this time?
Really?
Wow.

Of course, my beautiful daughter had her dream come true too.

can you guess what her dream was?

It was a great day at the beach...
no, that's wrong...
it was a GREAT day at the beach WITH family!

But the word GREAT
(even written in capital letters)
can't fully describe how awesome the day really was!

And the traffic wasn't even that bad--
on a holiday weekend no less!

I wonder what my next dream come true will be?
Do you have a dream this summer?

Blessings,
Aimee

Wonderful photos of the beach. So many exciting things - the birth of a baby seal, your daughter's presence and a mystery that we can only guess at.

That baby seal is so cute! I'm happy your family made one of your dreams come true. It looks like a good time was had by all.

Thank you! It was very thrilling and both events totally unexpected.

Aimee, so glad you had a nice weekend at the coast with your daughter and grandchildren. I love the photos. I was just talking to Phil about St. Paul Rodeo, which we are going to on the 4th and how I'd like to take photos a different way, and then it would be nice to go to the beach as well, soon...I was there in Feb but I hear it calling me! Love the little sea lion...so cute! Looks like it was a lovely day! Take care!

Thanks! I think you'll enjoy the rodeo -- I went there once a long time ago and we have been to the fireworks before. And the beach too? Well that's always a great place to go!
I loved that little guy--he was such a sweetie:)
Blessings,
Aimee
PS: Excited to see where your new vision in photo taking takes you!

@Gracie~
Thank you!!! Needed to hear that today:)
Looking forward to seeing the 'surprise'!
Safe trip and blessings to both of you!

You're very cryptic! Why are all your kids showing up, is there a special event? I'm thinking your daughter got engaged? I'm glad you're whole family had a good time together at the beach.
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

@Teresa~
LOL. I must have edited just a little too much on this post. Let me explain...
This is part of my daughter's family--her husband and her youngest son (the one giving the piggyback ride to Small One). No special event -- she just decided one day around noon to come and visit us with her two boys and hubby. It was my dream come true! And her dream was to stand at the beach she hasn't seen for a couple of years (and see family too).
One of my other 'dreams' come true is sitting about 7 feet from me right now--my Chef son is back in the Pacific NW after some time of living in the South;)
Blessings,
Aimee
PS: LOVED your photo post today!

Loved the pictures... Hope the baby seal makes it..he is so sweet. So glad your family all visited you . How lucky are they to have mom and dad (grandparents) who live in such a heavenly place!

@Sallie~
Thank you--happy you enjoyed them!
I think the little seal will be OK--two of the locals were very protective of him and someone apparently notified the proper officials as, on our way out, we saw one headed that way. The baby was adorable and sweet--it was an amazing sight!
Thanks--it was great to see our daughter and most of her family and now be spending time with our oldest son.
Have a great weekend!
Blessings,
Aimee

That is truly a wonderful dream weekends, Aimee. Beach and family are the perfect combination. I need a quick break so am heading out that way just for the night. It's the best therapy ever.
