Amidst the Pumpkins: Bauman Farm

It isn't autumn for me,
 until I've had at least one pumpkin smoothie
(slurp, done!),
enjoyed a cup of hot apple cider
(VERY yummy with a splash of salted caramel as I found out recently),
toured a kiwi farm
(baby and fuzzy kiwi--nom nom),
viewed my favorite tree adorned in it's fall finery
(aspen, Sunday under a blue sky)
AND
been to a pumpkin patch!
Yesterday was my day to checkout the latter,
as well as spy out places to take the grandchildren--should the 'need' ever arise.
LOL
AND
it just SO happened a friend had business to take care of in the Woodburn area
AND has some grandkids of her own so wanted to check out the place too:)
So that's how we found ourselves at Bauman Farm in Gervais, Oregon!

After some long chats with a couple of staff there
(these people know the meaning of GREAT customer service let me tell you) and a bit of browsing,
we went into one of the buildings to admire the gorgeous display of ornamental corn...
I felt like a kid in a candy store!

In addition to the ornamental corn,
the farm had tons of squash, sweet corn,
pumpkin (yep I bought a pie pumpkin), gourds...
well the list just goes on for they have a farm store with a bakery and a whole lot of apples and veggies, jams and more!

I NEED me another scarecrow,
and this one was adorable--
but I restrained myself
(at least on this -- my first visit there).
Wonder if I could make one?
Or more then one...
has anyone done so?

This little ornamental plant caught me eye!
It's called 'pumpkin on a stick'.
LOVE it!
Mmm. Love those mums too:)

It's a very happy place!
Everyone seemed to be having a good time--
kids and adults alike.

Of course we had to stroll by the famous Pumpkin Hill.

And being an animal LOVER--the barn was a MUST!

And I had to check out the
BIG,
BIG
and
BIGGER
pumpkins!!
(for a comparison check out the fire extinguisher on the wall)

Lots of activities to do on a weekday
but even more on a weekend--
one that I would LOVE to do is some 'gem mining'.
Just like my grandpa--well sort of:)

I just have to go back--
because
we have a maze to conquer,
more apple cider to buy,
a bug train to catch,
a fort to explore--
after all autumn and pumpkin patches come just ONCE a year:)

In addition to exploring the joys of autumn we've been hard at work on my little dream-come-true
(hence the fewer blog posts),

doing some autumn cleaning
(ditto the above statement),

and trying to get healthier
(ditto, ditto).
has got me motivated to do some walking daily
(ditto, ditto, ditto).

I LOVE autumn!
What aspect of autumn do you enjoy the most?

Blessings,
Aimee

Notes:
A HUGE thank you to Bauman Farms which gave me permission to take
"hundreds" of photos and post them here:)
Here is their link should you be in the area
(or just wanting a great day trip)

As always, I am not associated with the farm except as a happy visitor:)

Sorry guys and gals, because of the number of places we went to
 yesterday, I didn't have my DSLR with me. Hope you still enjoy the photos!

Hi :) I am so happy if I can make others motivated for walking. Walking is very nice :)
That place you visited - I would have loved to visit it as well, and the pumpkin hill looks amazing. Only some very few pumpkins to see here in Norway.
Good luck with your walking.

You found a treasure of a place, Aimee! The pumpkin hill and the huge squash were especially amazing to me. I made a scarecrow with my kids when we lived in NY. It was fun, but I am sketchy on the details of how we did it, except I remember using one of my husband's old flannel shirts :) Your list of autumn loves is similar to my own, but I especially love being out on a day when the air is crisp, it is sunny and the autumn leaves are at the height of colorful glory.
Blessings,
Gracie xx

Thanks for the tip on that place.. I want to take our grandsons somewhere like that. We just had a gusher of a thunder and hail and rain storm! It's hard to photograph rain! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Ahh, your trip to the pumpkin patch looks wonderful too! I should have taken more photos of the actual farm when we went on Saturday, but I was too busy taking pictures of Piper! The weather last weekend in Portland was amazingly beautiful. We have rain and coolness today in Spokane and I'm still under the weather so it's knitting and movie watching for me today.
Enjoy your fall delights.
Blessings,
Betsy

@Helen~
Thanks again for helping me to get motivated-I certainly hope I can continue with the walking!
I know you would have loved the pumpkin farm and hill too Helen. Maybe you should make a pumpkin farm for Norwegians:)
Blessings,
Aimee

@Gracie~
The farm was definitely very, very awesome! The giant squash and pumpkin hill are even more awesome when you see them in person. SO cool that you made your own scarecrow!!!
Yep-your autumn love is definitely at the top of my list too:)
Blessings,
Aimee

@Teresa~
You are most welcome. Your grandsons would love it there! I only mentioned a few of the activities they offer--especially on the weekends.
LOL--yep it sure is. You'll see my most recent attempt at photographing rain soon:)
Blessings,
Aimee

@Willow~
It really was a lot of fun--even without our grandkids:)
LOL! I forgot to mention the wonderful, yummy caramel, nutty, chocolate covered candied apple I bought yesterday:)
SO what did you have for supper???
Blessings,
Aimee

@Betsy~
Being one of your friendly followers and a fellow grandma, I LOVED all your pictures of Miss Piper:)
It really was beautiful last weekend...I hope we will see more of the same soon!
Hope you feel better...

Gosh my grands would just LOVE this...unfortunately, we don't have anything like that around here. Mostly lame corn mazes with a bunch of scrawny pumpkins laying around.

@Linda~
Isn't that 'hill' great? I sure wish I had had my DSLR with me that day.
Blessings,
Aimee

@Terri~
I know they would! Corn mazes, pumpkin patches, etc. are a big thing up in the PNW--perhaps it is our climate??
Maybe you can create elements of the pumpkin patch at your place for the kiddos--an old fashioned harvest party with bobbing for apples, making caramel popcorn, doing a treasure (scavenger) hunt, creating scarecrows, etc. Oh--and dressing up!
Blessings,
Aimee

@Jackie~
It was!! It was a great blend of apple, buttery popcorn flavor and caramel. Mmm! I want to make some at home now with the fresh apple cider I bought at Bauman Farm.
Ah! Thank you. Believe me, it was MY pleasure to check out the farm before taking the grandkiddos:)
Happy autumn to you too!
Blessings,
Aimee

@Sallie~
Oregon is really beautiful, especially now that we have some gorgeous sunshine to go with those pretty leaves!
Yep, I am pretty crazy in love with our PNW farms :)
